Canada is preparing to utilize NATO or Norad (backed up by the U.S. Airforce) for patrolling the skies during the Olympics. I hope this means that they plan to pay for the service. While I have no problem helping our neighbors to the north, I do think that the security needed to host a modern Olympics is something that ought to be taken into consideration when a location bids to host the Olympics.

canda has its own military, but i think we could use some support from nato and the un since we have another 580 000 000 million dollars to pay to JUST build the facilities for the olympics,i dont think it would be entirely feesable if we went on our own
But isn’t that a part of bidding for the Olympics? Yes, it’s really expensive to host the Olympics. In our current world situation, a large chunk of change is going to have to go towards security. But if you can’t afford it, it’s like me saying, “Hey, I’d really like to live in a bigger house, but I can’t afford it, so I think my neighbors should all chip in”. Is Canada planning to share the proceeds from future income that the Olympics will bring with NATO and NORAD? If so, then I guess that’s fine.
And, yes, I realize Canada has its own military. And my response is partially serious, partially tongue-in-cheek.
