Americans fail to qualify for quarterfinals of ski cross
Huge bummer. Ski cross debuted today at the Olympics. Unfortunately, Casey Puckett and Darren Rahlves failed to qualify for the quarterfinals. I was so looking forward to ski cross, too. And, yes, I’m one of those viewers who has a hard time enjoying once “my” team is out of it.
Michael Schmid, of Switzerland, took the inaugural gold. Silver and bronze went to Austria’s Andreas Matt and Norway’s Audun Groenvold.

Maybe it was just me but I was kind of BLAH about ski cross. It seemed whoever got the best start on the first 2 hills won. I didn’t get the “Oh my goodness this is chaos on skis” thing. I don’t know if it is the setup of the course made it extremely difficult to pass or what. It just seemed to me that the order they hit the first turn was 9 times out of 10 the order they crossed the finish line. I have watched this sport in the X-Games and it has been exciting, but not so much here.
