Ashleigh McIvor wins women’s skicross debut
The first Olympic women’s skicross event came off just as wild as expected. The arrival (finally!) of snow to Cedar Mountain slowed the course and blew around heavily. The competitors raced in sets of four, jostling for position and making for an exciting day overall complete with wipe-outs and face-plants.
Canada’s Ashleigh McIvor came out on [...]
Olympic events 2/23
Plenty of events to choose from today. What will I be watching?
Men’s Giant Slalom, even though I already know something that I didn’t want to know. Ugh. It’s really difficult to avoid spoilers. Anyway, men’s giant slalom provides another golden opportunity for Ted Ligety and Bode Miller.
Ladies figure skating short program. [...]
Americans fail to qualify for quarterfinals of ski cross
Huge bummer. Ski cross debuted today at the Olympics. Unfortunately, Casey Puckett and Darren Rahlves failed to qualify for the quarterfinals. I was so looking forward to ski cross, too. And, yes, I’m one of those viewers who has a hard time enjoying once “my” team is out of it.

Whistler’s slopes have plenty of snow and will pose no problem, but Cypress [...]

The Vancouver Olympics will be Casey Puckett’s first attempt to medal in ski cross at the Olympics, but it will be his fifth quest for the Olympics, overall. He first competed in the 1992 Albertville Olympics 18 years ago!
Casey has yet to win a medal in the Olympics, but he’s been competing very well [...]
2010 Olympics– Skicross Added As New Event
This year someone will win the first gold medal awarded for Skicross. Skicross, similar to snowboard cross, which debuted in Torino, is a crazy looking sport involving groups of skiers racing each other to the bottom of a course with jumps, rollers, banks and other man-made and natural terrain features. It belongs to the [...]
New Winter Olympic sports
Lady ski jumpers aren’t the only ones who hope to add their sport to the Vancouver Olympics. Four other events will be considered for inclusion in the 2010 Vancouver games when the Olympic committee meets in November. The other events are ski-cross (similar to snowboard cross, which was a big hit in Turin), [...]
