Whew! That was close!

Did you know that the Whistler Blackcomb resort was almost put on the block for a foreclosure auction this Friday? How interesting would that have been? Would they really have auctioned it off on the steps with Bode Miller skiing down the hill behind them?

Fortunately, Intrawest Holdings was given one more week [...]

Argh! The Olympics weather!

Now it’s looking like super combined is postponed indefinitely because of the weather. I understand and appreciate the need for being safe, but didn’t anyone consider Vancouver’s weather when they granted the Olympics? Any of you from Vancouver? Is this normal, or is this just a freak winter?

Here are a few videos [...]

Graham Watanabe

I like interesting stories about athletes. This may be one you remember. Snowboardcrosser (is that what thye call themselves?) Graham Watanabe did not make the Torino Olympics team, but he paid his way to Italy, anyway, working as an assistant wax technician. Then Jayson Hale tore his ACL, and Graham stepped up [...]

Johnny Weir

If you follow figure skating at all, I’m sure you know who Johnny Weir is. Even if you don’t, you may have seen the recent viral email with him singing karaoke to “Before He Cheats”. I’d include the video here, but 1) it’s not available on YouTube and 2) it was REALLY terrible!

Casey Puckett– 2010 Olympics will be his fifth

The Vancouver Olympics will be Casey Puckett’s first attempt to medal in ski cross at the Olympics, but it will be his fifth quest for the Olympics, overall. He first competed in the 1992 Albertville Olympics 18 years ago!

Casey has yet to win a medal in the Olympics, but he’s been competing very well [...]

Will Sasha Cohen Compete in Vancouver Olympics?

It certainly looks like Sasha Cohen is going to try to be a member of the 2010 Olympic figure skating team. That’s pretty amazing considering she hasn’t skated competitively since right after the last Winter Olympics. But she has stated that she intends to skate at U.S. Nationals later this month in a [...]

2010 Olympics– Skicross Added As New Event

This year someone will win the first gold medal awarded for Skicross. Skicross, similar to snowboard cross, which debuted in Torino, is a crazy looking sport involving groups of skiers racing each other to the bottom of a course with jumps, rollers, banks and other man-made and natural terrain features. It belongs to the [...]
